FAQ

What is required to place an order?

First time orders require a deposit prior to the placing an order and the balance due will be C.O.D. Once payment is received from the first order, an account will be setup and terms will be provided for future order(s) (see terms below). Any order above $20,000 will require a 50% deposit to initiate an order with our supplier(s).

If an imprint is required on the promotional product you choose, proper artwork is essential to ensure that the final product has a crisp and clean imprint.

What is the Delivery Time for Promotional Products?

Standard delivery time is 3-5 weeks. Most product fall into this time frame, however your consultant will verify the specific time required for the product(s) you choose. Promotional Products ordered from over-seas can range from 2 weeks to 12 weeks for delivery. Over-seas orders are difficult to provide precise delivery times.

How can I be assured that my promotional products will arrive on time?

Our customer service agents monitor every order from purchase to delivery. Creative Concepts has a state of the art tracking system which allows our agents to monitor artwork, paper proofs, adjustments to the order, and deliveries (from supplier and distributor) until the order is received and signed for by the client.

What are your terms?

Our terms are cash on delivery for first time orders and net 30 days for any subsequent orders (unless otherwise specified). A 50% deposit is required on orders over $20,000.00

What is an over-run or an under-run?

Over-runs and under-runs are a standard in our industry. A numerical variance can occur with some orders (eg. high speed imprinting of decals or pens) because the machines being used to imprint cannot be stopped at the required quantity. However if this variance occurs, it will not be more than 10% of the order. It will be the responsibility of the purchaser to pay for any over-runs or accept any under-runs. If the total ordered must be exact, please specify before the order is placed to ensure that prior arrangements can be made with the supplier (a surcharge may be applicable).

What forms of payment do you accept?

Creative Concepts accepts all forms of payment (Cash, Cheque, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express)

What kind of Artwork do we require?

PLEASE SEND ARTWORK in vector format - keep reading below for details.

Example of artwork that are NOT in vector format:Photographs,Photocopies, Faxed Art, GIF's, Power Point, Letterhead, Business Cards, JPG's, Word or any other art that requires touching up, color separation or made into one color.

Any artwork received that is NOT in vector format is subject to additional charges and is assessed according to the degree of difficulty and amount of time required to covert to vector. Reworked art is charged at $75.00 per hour. You will be notified of any charges before any work is done.

Engraving artwork MUST be in vector format only. If camera ready art is supplied, it must be converted into vector format, and art charges of $75.00 per hour will apply.

If you are providing your own 4 color process artwork (mousepads, cameras, lunch box stickers) Four color process artwork should be provided digitally on disk (CD ONLY, sorry no ZIP or JAZ), or emailed in a PC zipfile (.zip ) or MAC stuff-it file (.sit) or (.sitx) or self-extracting (.sea) along with a color output for reference. Make sure your images are saved in CMYK format, as a tiff, at a minimum of 300 dpi. WE MUST HAVE A COLOUR PROOF WITH ORDER.

Please allow at least 1/8" bleed around all sides of the die-line. Non-critical graphics and colors can bleed through all 'punch outs' such as the camera lens opening, shutter button, viewfinder, etc. When saving your artwork, please make the die line so it can be separated and deleted from your work. Save multi-piece artwork in layers or separate elements.

Vector art versus scanned art

  • Vector artwork is artwork created on the computer using software such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, etc.
  • Vector artwork allows the artist to manipulate the artwork.

  • For instance, if the logo needs to be made larger, the artist can do so without it affecting the quality of the artwork.

  • Perhaps the logo is more than 1 color, the artist working on this job can change it to black for film production to use the logo in a 1 color spot application.

  • If the logo is more than 1 color, the artist can color separate the artwork for film production.

  • The logo provided in vector may have a very small registration mark ¨ within it. With vector art, we can "touch" just this element on the logo, and make it larger without making the rest of the logo larger. Or as well - thicken up the lines on the logo so they will be seen more visibly for certain imprinting applications ie. Pad Printing or Engraving.

Why we can't work from scans:

Unlike Vector artwork, scans can't be manipulated because they weren't created on a computer. A scan is like a photograph - it can't be changed.

Where vector art is comprised of several different elements that an artist can touch, manipulate, and/or change on the screen, scanned art is one flat element that can't be changed in any way.

If the logo needs to be made larger, the artist can do so BUT it will effect the quality of the artwork. Below, as an example, is a jpeg.

Perhaps the logo is more than 1 colour, the artist working on this job CAN'T change it to black for film production or be able to colour separate it.

ONE EXCEPTION (AND ONLY ONE) TIFF'S:

  • Scan the logo in Gray scale (Black & White)
  • Scan it at a resolution no lower than 600 dpi (dots per inch)
  • Save the scan as a TIFF. if we receive scans like this, the art department can modify it further, however, an art charge of $75.00 per hour will apply.

Prepared Art - How do I send art?

You may e-mail art directly to your rep or if your art requires work please send it to: sheilah@creativeconcepts.ca along with the name of your rep that is handling your order.

    We accept the following formats:

    · Adobe Illustrator (.ai) (.eps) Version 10 for PC Version 11 for Mac · Corel Draw (.cdr) Version 10 for PC

    Please remember...
    · Convert your text to curves or outlines (Illustrator and CorelDRAW) · Make sure your images are at least 300dpi, size or larger (200%) · Include all of the needed fonts or images (Quark and Illustrator) · All type should be at least 6 point and all lines should be at least 1 point stroke weight. (There may be exceptions depending on the factory)

    What is a PMS color?

A popular color matching system used by the printing industry to print spot colors is the Pantone Matching System or PMS. Most applications that support color printing allow you to specify colors by indicating the Pantone name or number. This assures you get the right color when the file is printed, even though the color may not look right when displayed on your monitor.

PMS works well for spot colors but not for process colors. The term spot color is used when one color or many colors are used but never combine. The term process color is used when two or more colors are used together to form a specific color or colors. Process colors are generally specifed using the CMYK color model. Short for Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black, and pronounced as separate letters. CMYK is a color model in which all colors are described as a mixture of these four process colors. CMYK is the standard color model used for full-color documents otherwise known as four-colour process.
